  3. Great article and tips for visiting the Island. However, you are not “in” an island you are “on” an island. As a native Long Islander, it is my grammar pet peeve. I live IN New York ON Long Island. See the difference there?

  5. Long Island is a great place I’ve lived here for 52 years I’ve done Most of the things in the blog and then some!! I still wouldn’t be able to do all the things on Long island even if I lived another 52 years!! It was a great place to grow up and I’m glad I’ve lived here!!

  7. This is a great list, I think you’d love Northport. It’s small and perfect for a day trip between the local coffee shops, the humble yet breathtaking view from the harbor, vintage shops, oyster bars and ice cream. It’s not overly crowded and everyone is friendly. My favorite gift shop there is Raizes right on Main St. They sell absolutely beautiful hand made jewelry, bags and more from Brazil. The owner is incredibly sweet and you can tell she really prioritizes sustainability and empowering women. So I always feel great about my Raizes purchases. Northport won’t be a secret for too long though with the new hotel opening soon.
