Integrating Stress Relief Into Your Life, Step By Step

10/29/2023 · In: Wellness

If you are one who is looking for stress relief ways, this is a must read for you. Stress is all around us, every day. Learning the tools and tricks to help with integrating stress relief into your life is very helpful.

Throughout the day, we all build something called “homeostatic sleep drive,” also known as “sleep pressure.” Put simply, this is a slow build of a chemical that helps us feel tired at the right time. Thus giving us the incentive to lay down at night and sleep a healthy and full eight hours. That’s why many sleep therapists will actually advise against napping during the day for those struggling to sleep at night. Doing so will ensure that sleep pressure isn’t released before it’s time to do so.

Stress Relief Tips

In the same way, we should look at our stress and release it. Outside of sleeping which does help some (but can also be affected by your stress). There are a few non-interventionist methods of releasing stress. This is why many people can move through life with raised cortisol levels that can severely affect their health in the long term. If you work a busy job, raise a family, or find yourself going through a tough time. All this stress can build and build if you’re not careful, and the end outcome is rarely comfortable.

So, let’s consider how we might integrate stress relief into our schedule. With the following advice, you’re sure to live life much more peacefully:

Calm Reading & Comfort

Reading is one of the best activities for relaxation. While it’s mentally engaging, it also helps you train peaceful concentration and calm. This means that in the long run, you’ll find yourself relaxing much more when reading than you might have if you were to zone out to the latest television show. Although this is a valid way too. Why not get swept up in a fun adventure, drink a mug of warm coffee or herbal tea, light incense, or enjoy THCA flower? Fill up that Goodreads shelf, and you’ll be a better person for all the journeys you’ve been on.

Time Block For Stress Relief

It’s very easy to plan some free time to relieve stress, and then get distracted by the household chores, replying to people over instant messaging apps, or simply having trouble sitting down. That’s why it’s healthy to block out distinct times for when you will relief stress, be that painting at your easel or drawing at your desk, and stick to that time. If it’s an hour, it’s an hour. You can place your phone on silent and set the most important contacts to always alert a notification tone. This way, you can relax more easily, without the obligation that tends to follow us.

Give Yourself Enough Time

24 hours rarely feels like enough time in the day, but it’s imperative that we manage it as well as we can. This often means giving ourselves time for the measures that truly matter. So, going to bed a little earlier so we can wake earlier before our work shift, preparing time for a full breakfast, comforting shower and even dog walk in the morning can be incredibly good for our mental health, especially before we head out. The more you can give yourself time to plan and prepare, the less rushed and forced you feel on a day-to-day basis.

Final Thoughts on Stress Relief

Stress is just a part of life. But, when one can incorporate ways to help with stress relief it helps greatly. With this advice, you’re sure to integrate stress relief into your schedule.
