Taking in a weekend at Monk’s Bar for an Intimate Evening with Cheap Trick lead singer Robin Zander & Family is always soothing to the soul for a music lover like me. Listening to him sing and play and watching his great love of his family and music is such a tender moment.
For so many people, music is therapy. Music of all kinds can help people with all sorts of things. It doesn’t seem to matter what happens daily in my life, but if I am feeling down a great song can usually pull me out of a slump and put a smile on my face.
Who is Robin Zander?
Who is this man Robin Zander? Well he is just a man, but not just any man! He is the lead singer of my favorite band in the world, Cheap Trick. He has been the front man/lead singer for Cheap Trick since 1974 and still today is as amazing as back in 1974!
Born January 23, 1953 and raised in Illinois. Robin started playing guitar at age 12 and played in high school bands and then later he and Brian Beebe formed the folk duo Zander & Kent in the early 1970’s.
Robin currently lives in Florida with his wife. He and his current wife have 2 children, Robin Taylor and Robin Sailor and he also has 2 children from his first marriage, Ian and Holland.

An Intimate Evening with Robin Zander and Family
The weekend which consisted of 3 nights of shows put on by the family is very intimate indeed. Less than 200 tickets are sold, and it is held in the basement of Monk’s Bar where no matter what you get a great show and great food and have a very special time.
After the music is done each night, Robin takes his time to meet everyone, sign autographs, take photo’s and just talk. He is one of the sweetest men and the fact that he doesn’t have to do any of that makes it even more special to all who attend the weekend event.
3 Full nights of amazing music by Robin, Ian, Holland and Robin Taylor. A chance to visit with all them all after the show, something unheard of at concerts.
My First Robin Zander and Family Show
Last year at a concert I learned of this intimate evening, 3 night event, that Robin and Brian do at Monk’s Bar in Lake Delton, Wisconsin. How I had never heard about it till last year is beyond me, as it’s only 5 hours from my home.
January 2018 I attended my first Robin Zander & Family show at Monk’s and I have to say I was in total awe! Robin is amazingly talented, but yet, his kids are also just as talented as he is. Of course how could they not be, with a father like Robin.
Here is one video of Robin singing The Flame. Check out my YouTube Channel for more videos of Robin Zander, Cheap Trick, The Nielsen Trust and more.
My Second Robin Zander and Family Show
Tickets are now on sale for this year’s show ( 2019 ) and I got my 2 VIP tickets purchased already. I have been saving money for this as I knew the on sale date was coming fast. So, hubby and I will be driving to Lake Delton in January no matter what the weather hands us!
This years show will be even better for me as now I know what to expect, and will be doing all 3 nights as it falls on my husbands weekend off. Last year we only were there for Friday and Saturday night. Holland’s band played Sunday and we had to miss it, but not this year!
Making Friends
The Cheap Trick world is so awesome and there are so many wonderful people that you meet along the journey. I have made some great friends and now look forward to this years Zander Family weekend even more because of that as well.
Knowing that there are so many other people out there who share the same love and passion for a band, such as Cheap Trick, is so very cool to say the least. There are many Facebook groups where we all hang and chat and share concert pictures, stories and video.
Getting to know others just as crazy over Cheap Trick and the members of Cheap Trick is nothing shy of pure fun and enjoyment for me. I love meeting people and knowing that others share my respect for great music makes my heart sing.
Zander Family and Us
Taking pictures is always an after thought for me as I just get so wrapped up in what’s happening I forget. Being a travel blogger I am working on getting better. Here are a few of Robin and me, Robin, my husband Tony and me, Holland and me and Robin Taylor and me.
This year I will be ready and take way more of Robin with me, cuz you can never have to many of Robin and me. (well I can’t).
Robin even signed a pillow case I had custom made, that sits on my night stand next to my bed. I used a picture of him and I from our first meet n greet. Totally in love with this pillow!

If you are like me then you probably have a case or two full of old cassettes that you just can’t seem to toss. I have many Cheap Trick ones and just can’t part with them, so I use a boom box to enjoy them. Be honest, you still have some, right?

The hardest working band in the world. Seeing a Cheap Trick show, The Nielsen Trust show or a Robin Zander and Family show is purely good for the soul. Robin also does some private shows here and there. You never know where or when he will pop up.
